Rusalka in the Park
Open-air concert performance of the most famous parts of Antonín Dvořák´s Rusalka opera with a multi media scenic show by the Caban brothers.
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Jarmila Novotná Festival and the 120th anniversary of the Rusalka opera premiere an exceptional summer open-air Rusalka in the Park took place.
It was a concert performance of the most famous parts of Antonín Dvořák´s Rusalka. The invitation to the project was accepted by the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, which performed under the baton of Robert Jindra. The main role of Rusalka was played by one of our most sought-after sopranos, Kateřina Kněžíková. The role of the Prince was taken by the talented Richard Samek, the role of Vodník was played by Jan Martiník and the roles of the Foreign Princess and the Witch by Jana Kurucová. Graduates of the Interpretation Courses in Liteň – Jarmila Balážová, Markéta Böhmová and Tamara Morozová were introduced in the roles of Žínka.

The concert took place on August 28, 2021 at 8 pm in the Chateau park in Liteň.

In 2016, Jarmila Novotná Festival was organized by the Association of Chateau Liteň already for the 5th time.
The festival was launched through The Touring Exhibition about the Life of Jarmila Novotná under the name Jarmila Novotná: Opera Diva. It will be presented in several towns and cities in the Czech Republic. The first stop took place at the Museum of Czech Karst in Beroun and was open there between January 27 till April 30, 2016. (Due to great interest the exhibition was extended from original deadline April 10.) The second station of the exhibition took place between July 6 and August 31 at the birthplace of Gustav Mahler in the village of Kaliště near Humpolec.
After last year´s success, we coorganized the concert called Tribute to Jarmila Novotná during the International Music Festival Prague Spring also in 2016 – this time with soprano Martina Janková, which was held on May 20, 2016, in Dvořák Hall of Rudolfinum in Prague.
This year of interpretation courses was in addition to the area of classical singing led by Kateřina Kněžíková also focused on a baroque style of singing led by Markéta Cukrová. The singing lessons were accompanied by the chief accompanist of the National Theatre Zdeněk Klauda. The Interpretation Courses were concluded by the concert of the lecturers and graduates of these courses on August 19, 2016 in a historical building Čechovna at Chateau Liteň which we subsequently organized on September 14, 2016 in the Martinů Hall at the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in modified form. Gala concert titled “The Best of …” introduced the selected graduates of this year and also last year courses, which were held under the leadership of Kateřina Kněžíková and Adam Plachetka.
Apart from other events organized in 2016, the Association of Chateau Liteň has became producers of a documentary about the life of a prominent Czech actor, writer, poet, musician, and theater director Jiří Suchý, who celebrated his 85th birthday this year. The premiere of this documentary called Jiří Suchý: My Fights and Struggles was held during events presented under the name Tribute to Jiří Suchý or “I Know Even Older People…” organized on September 30, October 1 and 2 in the Semafor Theater in Prague. The evening held on October 1, 2016, was part of the International Television Festival Golden Prague.
