Jiří Suchý: My Fights and Struggles

JS portrét_res1In addition to Jarmila Novotná, in 2016 the Association of Chateau Liteň decided to support and celebrate also another prominent and for the Czech culture a very famous person – Jiří Suchý.

On October 1, 2016, this well-known Czech actor, director, composer, writer, artist, and the inevitable member of the Semafor Theater in Prague celebrated his 85th birthday. To pay an appropriate tribute to his jubilee, we have become producers of a documentary called Jiří Suchý: My Fights and Struggles. The premiere of this movie was held during events presented under the name Tribute to Jiří Suchý or “I Know Even Older People…” organized on September 30, October 1 and 2, 2016 in the Semafor Theater in Prague.

The documentary was directed by Jiří Vondrák and has two lines – the first one reflects the life destiny of Jiří Suchý through the existence of the Semafor Theater in Prague and the second one is devoted to his personal thoughts and contemplation on various questions and topics.

Each of these three events was a chance not only to see the movie but also to meet Jiří Suchý and listen to his birthday concert where the artist himself presented his artwork through songs written and performed by him that belongs to evergreens in the Czech Republic. The second event held on October 1, 2016, was part of the International Television Festival Golden Prague.

Events organized in October were moderated by the famous Czech author, journalist, and moderator Jiří Vejvoda.

On September 30, the documentary had a premiere also in Czech Television (Čt Art) and was reprized on October 1 and 4, 2016.
